US President extends Myanmar’s emergency situation for one year 

The White House has extended the presidential decree and emergency declaration for another year due to the situation in Myanmar poses a threat to the security and foreign policy of the United States.

After the 2021 military coup in Myanmar, politicians, Human rights activists Journalists and religious leaders were arrested and imprisoned. The denial of the will of the Myanmar people not only harms Myanmar’s democratization and law enforcement, but also poses an unusual threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. The order was issued on February 10, 2021.

The White House statement said that the US Congress has also been notified of the extension of the order. As a result of this order, the United States took action against the clans of those involved in the military coup and the military council. According to the order, the assets and interests of any foreign national determined by the US Treasury and State Department to be operating in Myanmar’s defense sector and other economic sectors will be frozen.
